I've been using pre-cut tapes but they do get expensive to buy after a while.
I did not know that hospital tapes like these exist, and they are indeed a much cheaper alternative! Is this tape double sided?? Or is it just sticky on one side? And if so, how does it get applied?? Anonymous: The tape is only single-sided. Or, you could try placing the bottom of the tape right at your lash line. I started out by trying both glue and eyelid-tape that I cut myself. I found the tape to work the best, although I hesitate to use it since you can really see the tape on the lid even with proper makeup applied!
I went home and cut it the way I would usually do with my regular eyelid tape perhaps a bit thinner , placed it about where I usually do or maybe a little lower, then used a tiny stick to gently "poke" it into place.
It took me a few times to get the crease right, but practice makes perfect. I'm going to continue experimenting but this seems to work wonderfully so far. Omg, thank you so so so much for this blog post! Most people prefer using eye glue, but from my experience, you can't apply heavy makeup afterwards because it dries the glue. Once again. Thank you so much! I'm going to try these tricks right away! Thank you sooo much for this tutorial! Even though now I've bought some pre cut tapes, for some reason i still like the ones I cut myself because aside from being economical, I can make the shape that suits my eyelids the best!!!
Thanks again!!! And sorry if I only commented now, I've actually been following your blog since last August.
Nice blog by the way!!! Since I'm nearing prom, I really pass by your blog more often for make up ideas! That's awsome! But I'm just wondering if you can still apply makeup onto the tape. Will regular scotch, double sided tape work too? I have this type of tape but it keeps showing whenever I do it D:. I have a very serious question to ask you, Are you trying to imply to other Asian girls who are born with "mono-lids" to be ashamed of themselves because, from what I'm getting from this video of yours, by putting on "eye lid tape" makes you look more attractive?
This question may seem a bit harsh but it just seems to me that tutorials like this are trying to mold the traditional Asian girl into what society thinks is beautiful while putting aside the true beauty of being a "mono-lid". I think I'll try this. Thanks for the tutorial! I recently got permanent eye liner, but I still hate looking tired from the droopy eyelids.
I think she's trying to help people who like her, didn't like the way their eyelids were shaped - for various reasons. I've seen that a lot of Asian women are interested in changing the shape or appearance of their eyelids, but I think there are various reasons - each personal to the individual. I think tutorials like this are really helpful, as I've struggled with an "issue" with my eyelids ever since I started learning to put on makeup.
If women are secure with who they are, I think it's great for them to find a tool that will help them be happier with their appearance.
Their reasons for wanting to look different - well, that is their own business. Super cool! Thanks so much! So kind of you to share this with us! You Rock! What happens if you happen to have such, well how do I put this, 'deep' double eyelids that the top fold goes over the bottom and looks like a monolid? Will this still work? I am Hispanic but I have sort of Asian eyes, and I never knew about the eyelid tape and the whole spectrum of products related to it.
I used it for the first time and my eyes look amazing, however I tend to note that the tape is visible. Can you recomend the best brand or kind? You are supposed to use concealer similar to your skintone. It covers the tape up. Great post! Thanks you so much for the share.
It is indeed a helpful one. I am looking forward of reading more article with the similar topic as this one. Good luck and More Power. Double Head Cutting. Thanks i like your blog very much , i come back most days to find new posts like this! Good effort. I learnt it. This post is really nice and informative. The explanation given is really comprehensive and informative.
I am feeling happy to comment on this post. For a month, I poked my eyes with the plastic fork several times a day. By the time I got the tape on, my eyes were tearing up from the mental and physical irritation.
But my determination for double eyelids would not waver. I bought two more packets of the tape and a bottle of glue. Part of me continues to tell myself that it would have worked had I continued to use the products and pushed through. But a stronger part of me looks at my past experience as painfully changing something that I was born with.
Monolids are part of who I am—literally—and deeply a part of my Asian identity. Oakland, CA.
